Brazilian Renderers, a partnership between the Brazilian Animal Rendering Industry Association (ABRA) and the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (ApexBrasil), took part in the program of Brazil Week in Toronto: Doing Business in Brazil (18th edition), held on September 10–11. The event brought together government officials, business leaders, and investors to discuss business opportunities and economic cooperation between Brazil and Canada.

The conference, organized by the Brazil-Canada Chamber of Commerce (BCCC) in partnership with ApexBrasil, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Ministry of Development, Industry, Trade, and Services, served as a stage for debates on foreign direct investment, infrastructure, energy transition, ESG, and market diversification. Opening remarks were delivered by Ambassador Enio Cordeiro, Consul General of Brazil in Toronto, and Ambassador Emanuel Kamarianakis, Canada’s representative in Brazil, both of whom highlighted the importance of bilateral relations and the potential for new partnerships.

According to ApexBrasil, between 2022 and 2024, Brazil rose from the 11th to the 9th largest supplier to Canada. The Agency also noted that the mission is taking place at a crucial moment for international trade, marked by tariffs imposed by the United States on Brazilian and Canadian products. A recent study by ApexBrasil, entitled “Market Diversification – Dependence Analysis by Brazilian State”, points to the Canadian market as strategic for the export of several Brazilian products.

Highlights included the presentation of the Brazil–Canada bilateral trade map, delivered by Gustavo Ribeiro (ApexBrasil), and panels featuring representatives from Canadian pension funds, Petrobras, Vale, and organizations focused on innovation and sustainability. The event also featured the participation of Ana Paula Repezza, ApexBrasil’s Director of Business, and Igor Brandão, Head of ApexBrasil’s North America Office. In addition, quick presentations were made by Brazilian states such as Rio Grande do Sul, São Paulo, Espírito Santo, and Pernambuco, which showcased strategic projects and opportunities.

The presence of Brazilian Renderers at the event reflects the sector’s efforts to expand its international presence and strengthen trade partnerships.

Brazilian Renderers

Since 2012, ABRA and ApexBrasil have partnered in the Brazilian Renderers project, with the goal of promoting exports from the Rendering sector — including animal meals, fats, blood derivatives, palatants, and hydrolyzed animal proteins. Through participation in trade fairs, workshops, and other special trade promotion initiatives, the projects highlight the attributes of the rendering industry and its products — such as quality, sanitary standards, and sustainable production — while also strengthening the international brands of these products, generating new business opportunities for Brazilian exporters. Information on how to join the sector projects is available at brazilianrenderers.com.
