Brazilian Renderers was present this Friday (June 6), in Paris, at the ceremony where Brazil was officially recognized as a foot-and-mouth disease-free country without vaccination. The recognition, granted by the World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH), marks a historic milestone for Brazil’s animal health system.

The certification was presented to President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva by WOAH Director-General Emmanuelle Soubeyran during an official ceremony attended by authorities and representatives of the productive sector. Minister of Agriculture and Livestock Carlos Fávaro was also present.

Approved by WOAH at the end of May, this new sanitary status is the result of decades of technical work, investments in surveillance and prevention, the dedication of rural producers, the excellence of veterinary services, and strong coordination between public and private sectors. This international recognition strengthens global confidence in Brazilian agricultural products and opens new doors to high-standard markets, boosting the national economy.

After the ceremony, guests attended a celebratory event organized by the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (ApexBrasil), the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MAPA), the Brazilian Beef Exporters Association (ABIEC), and the Brazilian Animal Protein Association (ABPA). The dinner celebrated the new sanitary status with a showcase of Brazilian animal proteins, a symbol of the country’s food quality and safety.

Brazilian Renderers joins the productive sector in celebrating this significant achievement, which represents a milestone for national livestock and establishes Brazil as a global benchmark in animal health.
