Following participation in ILDEX Indonesia, Brazilian Renderers—a partnership between the Brazilian Renderers Association (ABRA) and the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (ApexBrasil)—continued its Asian agenda with a series of engagements in Beijing. Between September 22 and 23, the project focused efforts in China, the world’s largest consumer market for animal protein and related inputs, opening dialogues with strategic entities and potential business partners.
The agenda began with meetings on September 22. Project representatives met with the China Animal Agriculture Association (CAAA), a national association that connects the livestock sector with the Chinese government. The meeting provided an opportunity to present the Brazilian animal rendering sector and discuss scenarios in local production, which is experiencing rapid growth. On the same day, there was also engagement with the China Feed Industry Association (CFIA), representing major manufacturers of livestock feed and pet food in the country. The technical dialogue offered insights into production standards and specific market demands in China, crucial for guiding the entry of the Brazilian industry.
Also on September 22, Brazilian Renderers held a meeting with the Optimize Integration Group (OIG), the largest animal protein importing group in China, operating 27 distribution centers across the country. The initiative brought Brazilian exporters closer to potential local clients, expanding business prospects in a highly competitive market with strict quality and traceability standards.
The following day, September 23, the delegation was received by the Embassy of Brazil in Beijing. The institutional meeting strengthened diplomatic support for sector initiatives and aligned strategies with the Brazilian government’s priorities in bilateral relations. The scale of the Chinese market underscores the relevance of this effort: the country hosts the world’s largest swine herd, projected at 427 million heads by 2025, in addition to 5.3 billion poultry and an estimated fish production of 52.9 million tons.
With the recent approval of 51 Brazilian plants to export to China, the activities in Beijing consolidate the strategy to position national animal rendering in an unparalleled market. By combining institutional, technical, and commercial engagement, Brazilian Renderers strengthens the sector’s global competitiveness and expands export opportunities for the Brazilian industry.
Brazilian Renderers
Since 2012, ABRA and ApexBrasil have jointly promoted the Brazilian Renderers project, aimed at boosting exports from the Animal Rendering sector—including meals, fats, blood derivatives, palatants, and hydrolyzed proteins of animal origin. Through participation in trade fairs, workshops, and other special commercial promotion activities, the project highlights the attributes of the animal rendering industry and its products—such as quality, sanitary status, and production sustainability—and enhances the international branding of these products, fostering new business opportunities for Brazilian exporters.
