Showcasing the advantages of using animal-based proteins in feed formulation and opening paths for commercial engagement with the African market — that was the goal of Business Connection Kenya, held on April 9 by Brazilian Renderers — a partnership between the Brazilian Renderers Association (ABRA) and the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (ApexBrasil).

The virtual event brought together 56 participants and was aimed at members of the Association of Kenya Feed Manufacturers (AKEFEMA), including manufacturers and professionals from the country’s animal nutrition sector. The agenda addressed the nutritional value of bone and blood meals, their use as alternative raw materials in feed, as well as data on international trade and business opportunities with Brazil.

The ABRA team led the presentations, focusing on the production of meals and their strategic role in animal nutrition, in addition to highlighting the commercial benefits of animal rendering. The meeting was also an opportunity to present the sector’s products and companies, encouraging future partnerships.

Brazilian Renderers

Since 2012, ABRA and ApexBrasil have promoted the Brazilian Renderers project with the objective of promoting exports from the Animal Rendering sector – meal, fat, blood products and palatabiliy ehancers, and hydrolyzed protein of animal origin. Through participation in fairs, workshops and other special actions of commercial promotion, the projects value attributes of the animal rendering industry and its products – such as quality, health status and sustainability of production – and value the international brands of products, fostering new business for Brazilian exporters.
