Brazilian Renderers Association (ABRA) took part in the Brazil–Chile Business Forum, held on April 22 and 23 in Brasília. The event, organized by the National Confederation of Industry (CNI) and the Chilean Federation of Industry (SOFOFA), with support from the governments of Brazil and Chile and participation from ApexBrasil, was held during the official visit of Chilean President Gabriel Boric to Brazil and marked a milestone in strengthening bilateral relations.

ABRA closely follows diplomatic and economic developments involving Chile, one of the main markets for Brazilian animal rendering. The Andean country is a key destination for sector products, especially for supplying animal nutrition chains — particularly in salmon farming, livestock production, and pet food segments.

This marks the second significant moment of rapprochement between Brazil and Chile involving ABRA in 2025. In March, the association was in Puerto Varas for an event organized by the Brazilian Embassy in Chile and the governments of both countries, with ABRA’s support. The initiative brought together authorities and private sector representatives to strengthen commercial ties and explore new opportunities for productive integration — a priority aligned with the potential of animal rendering as a sustainable growth driver.

During the forum in Brasília, the agenda focused on key topics such as expanding bilateral trade, the role of micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises, and the Capricorn Bi-Oceanic Corridor — a logistical route connecting the Atlantic and Pacific oceans, linking Brazilian and Chilean ports. The corridor is considered strategic for improving product flow, reducing logistical costs, and generating employment.

The event brought together high-level authorities, including Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, Planning and Budget Minister Simone Tebet, Chilean President Gabriel Boric, and Chilean Economy Minister Nicolas Grau. With around 250 representatives from the public and private sectors, the forum reaffirmed both countries’ commitment to regional development, sustainability, and productive integration.

Brazilian Renderers

Since 2012, ABRA and ApexBrasil have promoted the Brazilian Renderers project with the objective of promoting exports from the Animal Rendering sector – meal, fat, blood products and palatabiliy ehancers, and hydrolyzed protein of animal origin. Through participation in fairs, workshops and other special actions of commercial promotion, the projects value attributes of the animal rendering industry and its products – such as quality, health status and sustainability of production – and value the international brands of products, fostering new business for Brazilian exporters.
