On August 7, the International Animal Protein Show (SIAVS 2024) was the stage for an important event for Brazil’s animal rendering sector at the Anhembi District in São Paulo. “The Best of Rendered By-Products: Business Connection Mexico” brought together buyers from Mexico and Brazilian producers in a promising business journey aimed at strengthening partnerships and promoting the expansion of Brazil’s markets.

Organized by the Brazilian Renderers project, a partnership between the Brazilian Renderers Association (ABRA) and the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (ApexBrasil), the business roundtable exceeded expectations. The commercial meeting attracted a wide range of representatives from Mexican companies eager to explore business opportunities with the sector.

The Mexican market is open to poultry and fish oil, swine grease, and beef tallow, as well as hydrolyzed poultry protein, blood derivatives, and Brazilian palatability enhancers. Discussions are ongoing to open the market for swine and bovine meat and bone meals.

ANFACA: Strengthening Brazilian Exports

The Brazilian Renderers event received crucial support from the National Association of Manufacturers of Animal Feed (ANFACA). During its visit to Brazil, ANFACA brought Mexican companies that are members of the entity, including the Brazilian Renderers event as a key highlight of its itinerary. Mr. Javier Méndez, Vice President of ANFACA, and his team attended the business roundtable.

As a partner of Brazilian Renderers Association (ABRA), ANFACA operates in Mexico with similar vision and values to the Association here in Brazil—cooperation between entities that strengthens business relations between the countries. This partnership also extends to Brazilian Renderers, contributing to the export-oriented mindset and results of the Project.

In return for a kind gesture made by ANFACA to Brazilian Renderers Association (ABRA) in 2023, when ABRA was awarded honorary membership by ANFACA, Brazilian Renderers Association (ABRA) dedicated a few minutes at the beginning of the business roundtable for a tribute. During this time, Brazilian Renderers Association (ABRA) Executive President, Decio Coutinho, awarded honorary membership to ANFACA. The recognition was presented to ANFACA’s Vice President, Javier Méndez, symbolizing the partnership between the entities.

Business Roundtable Highlighted the Best of Brazilian Rendering

On August 6, the first day of the Brazilian Renderers program, a technical visit to an ABRA member industry took place: Razzo opened its doors to ANFACA members, representing nine member companies. Brazilian Renderers Association (ABRA) organized and oversaw the visit.

On August 7, the program of “The Best of Rendered By-Products: Business Connection Mexico” began with a video presentation highlighting details about the Brazilian animal rendering sector and the Brazilian Renderers project. This was an opportunity for guests to learn about the Project’s work, which focuses on promoting animal by-products produced in Brazil and expanding Brazilian animal rendering industries into international markets.

The quality and production capacity of the sector’s products were also showcased during the event, especially after the presentations by the participating companies. Potential Mexican buyers had the chance to explore the innovative technologies and best practices that make Brazilian products highly competitive in the global market.

ABPA President Ricardo Santin attended the opening of the event.

After the presentations and discussions, participants engaged in intense business rounds and commercial contacts. The event concluded with a cocktail reception, which further strengthened networking between Mexicans and Brazilians.

This favorable business environment promises continued growth and expansion in trade exchanges between the two countries. An opportunity that companies participating in the Brazilian Renderers Project are accessing firsthand!
