Brazil announced yet another market opening for the animal rendering sector. The Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MAPA) published that “the Brazilian government welcomed the announcement by the government of Mexico of authorization for Brazil to export poultry oil and fish oil intended for animal feed” to the country.

According to MAPA, in 2023 Mexico imported more than US$2.95 billion in agricultural products from Brazil, making it the tenth largest destination for Brazilian exports in the sector. The main products exported were soybeans, cereals and meat.

The opening of the two new products is in addition to the opening of the Mexican market in January for Brazilian donkey genetic material. Since the beginning of the year, 41 markets have been opened in 24 countries.

The project has already carried out a series of actions in the country to bring Brazil and Mexico closer together commercially and diplomatically, on behalf of the animal rendering sector. These include taking part in the Livestock Innovation and Business Forum for Mexico and Latin America (FIGAP 2022) and holding a new business prospecting event attended by more than 40 people.

Through participation in fairs, workshops and other special actions of commercial promotion, the projects value attributes of the animal rendering industry and its products – such as quality, health status and sustainability of production – and value the international brands of products, fostering new business for Brazilian exporters.
